Republic Wireless announced that it will begin offering the Moto G (2015), one of the best affordable smartphones you can buy right now, for as low as $199. The carrier will begin offering the device on Oct. 27.
Republic Wireless allows customers to place and receive calls over Wi-Fi networks, and offers low-cost plans because it relies so much on Wi-Fi for coverage. That means customers can pay as little as $5 per month for service, provided they’re always in range of Wi-Fi, or as much as $40 if they want to offset that with support for cellular talk, text and 2GB of 4G data.
The carrier will sell an 8GB model of the Moto G (2015) for $199 and a 16GB model for $229. Both versions should come with a microSD card slot for expanding that storage, but we recommend most customers opt for the 16GB model anyway.
