Dragon Quest Heroes launches today! Get ready to show the love!

A lot has changed in the world since the last time we saw an original Dragon Quest game launch in North America. That date was Sept. 19, 2011, to be exact, with Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2. One thing that has not changed since then though is the burning desire fans have for more, and I’d say these four years of silence and rejection have only made that craving even stronger!

So today, we get our first Dragon Quest game in four years, and it is one that most fans are wary of. Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below, an action game from Dynasty Warriors developer Omega Force, has been met with scorn by fans who would rather have some of the Nintendo 3DS RPGs, but those who have played it have been showering it with praise, saying it is light fun and doesn’t fall into a lot of Dynasty Warriors’ traps. It genuinely seems to be the action game that Dragon Quest deserves.

I’ve got my copy pre-ordered, and I’ll be sure to let you know what I think once I get around to it.

More important than the actual game, this is the biggest chance we have to show Square Enix that Dragon Quest can be a huge success in the West… like we already did with Dragon Quest IX. The more copies Square Enix sells, the more it will feel inclined to bring down the iron curtain that holds back the rest of the wonderful games from Western releases.

Even if you’re a miffed fan who doesn’t want to play into Square Enix’s piper song, this really is the best and only way to make your voices heard. Posting frustrated comments everyday on the Dragon Quest Facebook page will only get you so far.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below will launch today for the PlayStation 4 when the PlayStation Store updates. Be sure to pick it up, and don’t give Square Enix anymore excuses.
