We’re already pretty excited about BlackBerry’s first Android phone, but a new rumor suggests the Priv could be even better than we thought. According to Twitter tipster @Ricciolo1, the slider handset will pack a powerful 21-megapixel Sony camera sensor.

That’s still not quite as powerful as the 23-megapixel shooter included in the Xperia Z5, but it’s nothing to laugh at either. The company’s 21-megapixel IMX230 sensor is also featured in the Moto X Pure Edition, which performed great in daylight but struggled in low light situations during our tests. Hopefully BlackBerry and Sony can iron out some of those issues for the Priv.
The BlackBerry Priv is also expected to pack a 5.4-inch display and a Snapdragon 808 processor, along with a slide-out physical keyboard and a front-facing speaker. It runs a pretty clean version of Android with a few extra enterprise-focused apps and tweaks.
There’s still no word on when the device will actually launch, though it’s set to arrive before the end of the year. We just hope BlackBerry doesn’t keep us waiting much longer.
