Destiny beats Metal Gear Solid V as best selling PSN game in September

Sony has revealed the best selling games of September through the PlayStation Store, and the winner is not Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Instead, the top prize goes to Destiny, a game released almost exactly a year ago, most likely because of the excitement surrounding its first major expansion, The Taken King.

In the PlayStation 4 category, Destiny leads the list in the number one spot with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain trailing at number 2. Likewise for the PlayStation 3, Destiny tops the chart at number 1, and Metal Gear Solid V dwindles down around the number 8 spot. At least people are buying the definitive next-gen version of The Phantom Pain in larger numbers. That’s a good sign.

For the PS Vita, Metal Gear Solid didn’t fear competition from Destiny, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD topped the list with most people wanting a bit of backstory before jumping into The Phantom Pain. Excellent choice, and I really need to play that again soon.

As always, I have the most interest in the classics list, and as always, it is topped by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Persona 4. However, Mega Man Legends clocked in at a respectable 5th place after its debut last week, making me relatively happy. Strangely, it was beaten out by Tomba!, but I think that was because it went on sale earlier this month for a dollar.

Spread the word! Get that higher up the list in October!
