Uncharted is new to 80% of PlayStation 4 owners, says developer

PlayStation 4 consoles are selling like no console before them. It’s not surprise then, that between new gamers and former Xbox gamers, there are a ton of PlayStation 4 owners that never owned a PlayStation 3. Almost half, Sony says. Very few of those users and even some PlayStation 3 owners, then, have never experienced the magic that is Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series.

“We did a lot of research,” says Naughty Dog’s Eric Monacelli in an interview with MCV, “and discovered that about 80 percent of the people that own a PlayStation 4 have never played Uncharted, period. That was one of the reasons why we thought remastering it would be a good idea.”

Naughty Dog’s expectations for the game are high, and it’s getting a suitably big push from Sony to match. The collection, which received an in-depth overhaul from Bluepoint Games, is set to release at the end of this week. I had a chance to look at it and loved it.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection releases for PlayStation 4 on October 9.
