Halo 5: Guardians has been sent off to the factory, says developer 343 Industries’ studio head Josh Holmes. While there will certainly be a day one patch, that means it’s as done as it’s going to get right now.
If you’re buying it digitally, though, pre-download starts next week. The patch, which Holmes says will “supplement the online multiplayer goodness with map content for Arena Multiplayer and our all new massive-scale 12v12 Warzone Multiplayer,” will become available when the game goes live on Oct. 27, so anyone using the Instant On feature on their Xbox One will download the patch automatically. No word on how big that patch is, but it sounds like it might be quite a bit smaller than some of the patches we’ve seen games get this generation.
Finally, Holmes adds that Halo 5: Guardians will see more than 18 free maps added to the game through its lifetime, which should help keep the player base unified and all playing the same game.
Halo 5: Guardians releases for Xbox One on Oct. 27.
