Disney announces release dates for Cars 3, Toy Story 4 and more

Ready for a complete avalanche of Disney movies through the year 2020? On the heels of Marvel’s reshuffling of Phase 3, Disney on Thursday announced the release dates for 19 movies over the next five years, reminding us that, yes, Disney does own anything and everything. Let’s just thank our lucky stars that there’s no Tomorrowland 2 on here.

You can see the full list at the bottom of this post (and see all the Marvel films right here). Leading the charge for new Disney movies include Cars 3, Toy Story 4, Gigantic, The Incredibles 2 and an untitled Pixar animation film, which will no doubt spark the rumor mill in the coming weeks and months. Disney actually showed off some of these films at its celebration earlier this summer—I was particularly impressed by Gigantic, which tries to reimagine the Jack and the Beanstalk tale.

Cars 3 is first up in Pixar’s lineup of sequels, with a June 6, 2017 release. Toy Story 4, meanwhile, has been pushed to June, 15, 2018, while The Incredibles 2 is dated for June 21, 2019. Disney has a real affinity for June, it seems. These films will come after the release of another sequel, Finding Dory, which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 17, 2016.

Remember, all of these movies are coming in addition to Marvel’s Phase 3 on up through 2020, which means we’ll be mighty busy being dazzled and crying our eyes out. Not only are we getting films out of Marvel and Pixar, but from Disney’s animation front, too, which John Lasseter has been trying to reinvigorate since he undertook a more prominent role at the company.

There are going to be some live action movies as well based on Disney’s famous animated fairy tales. Leading that charge will be The Jungle Book, which is currently set for an April 15, 2016 release.
