Quantum Break dev talks about the game’s many delays

We’ve been waiting for Quantum Break for a while now. The game was unveiled originally in 2013 and since that time we’ve seen delay after delay push the title back, just like with Remedy’s last title, Alan Wake. That one ended up being worth the wait in my opinion, but that doesn’t seem like a good long-term plan. It sounds like Remedy sees that, though, and that the release date, set for early next year, is something they might actually be able to reach.

Talking to Edge magazine, Remedy’s Sam Lake talked about some of the challenges that brought the team to where they are.

“Just thinking about Quantum Break as an example, there’s a lot of new technology, [Xbox One is] a new platform, it’s a new universe, new story, there’s new core gameplay. [There’s] a lot of prototyping and a lot of discovery,” he said.

“On the whole show side, there are a lot of challenges to figure out. It does end up taking time and, yes, we want to keep the quality high, so we don’t want to make certain kinds of compromises, and are always making sure that this is iterated enough and polished enough and it’s as good as it deserves to be.”

Lake isn’t lying, either – the products Remedy puts out have been universally well received and well-polished. If they can actually make their spring release window, we’re in for a great ride when Quantum Break hits Xbox One on April 5, 2016.
