Google made a cool live wallpaper that displays your phone’s stats

Android already makes it super easy to digest information at a glance, but the solutions aren’t always elegant. You can have a widget for your system stats, but it might not look that great next to the beauty of Google’s Material Design. That’s where Meter comes in, a live wallpaper made by Google that provides useful info information without tagging your screen in ugly widgets.

As you can see in the screenshots above, the live wallpaper displays information like battery level, wireless signal and notifications in a visually pleasing way. The info Meter provides is meant to fade into the background, not obnoxiously crowd and takeover your screen. While the idea is cool, there doesn’t appear to be much flexibility and customization; Meter cycles through the three visualizations with every unlock, which means you won’t always get the exact info you’re looking for every time.

Be that as it may, the concept is cool, and makes for a great alternative to real estate-hungry widgets. It would be nice if Meter allowed for some type of customization, but it’s great for its subtlety and convenience. You can download it free through Google Play.
