Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition hits just in time for Halloween

There’s tons of stuff to play this fall, but if you’re looking for something a bit more comic book inspired, the upcoming re-release of Darksiders II may be your cup of ultra-muscled, post-apocalyptic tea.

Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, put together by Gunfire Games – a team mostly of people who worked on the original – hits this month for $29.99.

The re-release is a bit more of the standard fare than some of the recent stuff we’ve seen like Uncharted and Gears of War. Instead of the total overhaul, it’s more about getting all the downloadable content in one place and textures brought up to a modern resolution. The downloadable content is worked into the game so it integrates better, and some additional balancing work has been done, but it’s largely the same game as before – in other words, good for hardcore fans or those who missed out, but not something worth a re-buy.

It is, however, good to see it in the hands of Gunfire Games, and it’d be great to see them get another crack at the series.

Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 27 for $29.99.
