Ubisoft seems to be teasing a new Far Cry game

Ubisoft’s main page has a mysterious teaser up – a live stream depicting a cave wall covered in art, with background noise of a fire and menacing growls. The live stream is a YouTube video simply titled “Ubisoft Announcement – COMING SOON.”

I’m pretty sure it’s a new Far Cry game. Here’s why.

First and foremost, the cave painting (which looks more like a Banksy work than an actual petroglyph) features a man holding a bow and a spear. The bow has come to figure heavily into the series in the last couple games, and it’s Ubisoft’s biggest franchise that features the weapon. Second, though, the YouTube page for the video says “Survival is Timeless.” The Far Cry series is all about survival, and it looks like they want to broaden it out past modern day settings. Finally, Ubisoft surveyed fans earlier this year with ideas like a dinosaur-themed title and titles set in other time periods and settings.

The video appears to be slowly zooming out (very slowly), so it may not even be too long before we find out just what they have in store.

Keep in mind this is pure speculation, but from the evidence above it seems likely.
