Turns out the cars in Rocket League handle differently

Well, I didn’t see this coming. The gaming community has just sort of assumed that the vehicles in Rocket League are exactly the same except for their appearances. It turns out that’s not true.

To be fair, the game doesn’t show off vehicle specs in any way. There are no UI notes regarding the differences between the cars. You select your ride, paint job, silly hat, wheels and rocket trail, and that’s it. You’re on your way, none the wiser.

YouTube user Reelly Plays set up a macro on the PC version of Rocket League that starts a game with no bots, starts recording, turns the vehicle to the left and maintains speed, stops driving, lets the car come to a complete stop, stops recording and marks where the car wound up. The video at the head of this post does it for all the cars in the game, and the results clearly show a difference between turn radii, handling and stopping speed. It’s sort of nuts.

I mean, I guess I sort of had a suspicion that the cars drove differently in this game, but this is some solid proof.  To be honest, I just sort of figured the game kept things super flat and even.
