What are your feelings toward Zack Snyder’s adaption of the Watchmen comics? Fans seemed pretty divided over what many considered to be a series that’s “unfilmable,” so you probably won’t be happy to hear that HBO is considering a Watchmen TV show. How bad can it be?
Collider reports Snyder has met with HBO for a TV series based on the popular comics, though it’s unclear what the approach will be. Will the twelve-part comic series be another adaptation, just separated into chunks? Or will Snyder and HBO take some creative liberties and deviate from the source material? That seems more likely, especially considering the nature of TV; perhaps this will be a one-off mini series similar to Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
Talks are reportedly preliminary, which means we’re far, far away from its debut (if it even happens at all). But consider this: Netflix has seen a terrific response from fans and critics with its slate of Marvel shows, and HBO might have a plan to emulate that approach with its own comic-related content. That’s just speculation, but it’s certainly not inconceivable.
Below is the official synopsis of the 2009 movie.
In an alternate 1985 where former superheroes exist, the murder of a colleague sends active vigilante Rorschach into his own sprawling investigation, uncovering something that could completely change the course of history as we know it.
