Samsung on Wednesday provided final pricing and release details for the Gear S2 smartwatch, which was introduced during the IFA trade show in Berlin earlier this month.
The Gear S2 will be available beginning Oct. 2 from Samsung.com, Amazon.com, Best Buy and Macy’s, and the entry-level model starts at $299.99. Samsung will also sell the Gear S2 classic, which offers a more traditional design but otherwise has the same specs, for $349.99. It will launch on the same day as the standard Gear S2 and from the same retailers.
Samsung said the first applications at launch will include Yelp, Nike+ Running, Samsung Milk Music, ESPN, CNN and Bloomberg, among other applications.
Another model with carrier connectivity will also ship later this fall, Samsung confirmed, and will be sold by AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Pricing for that model has not been announced. For more information, be sure to check out our Samsung Gear S2 hands-on video.
