Chromecast Audio announced — turn your old speakers into something useful

Google just announced Chromecast Audio, a new gadget that should breathe fresh life into that old pair of speakers you have sitting around. It automatically works with phones, laptops and tablets connected to your Wi-Fi network, and it allows you to easily stream music from whatever – Google Play Music, your Spotify Playlist or another app, right to your Chromecast Audio setup. You can stream audiobooks, podcasts, YouTube videos and more to your speakers.

Chromecast Audio also supports multi-room sync, but that feature will launch later this year. Chromecast orders open today for $35.
