The Witcher 3‘s first expansion, Hearts of Stone, is mere weeks away, and CD Projekt Red has released some screenshots giving us a hint of what we can expect.
To keep spoilers to a minimum, they’ve blurred out any quest-related text in the images.
The Hearts of Stone expansion brings in new mechanics with the Runeword system and pits Geralt against new monsters and characters, in addition to bringing back a love interest from previous games (and the books) named Shani.
Here’s the official word from CD Projekt Red on what we can expect:
Step again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, this time hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality.
The expansion lets you choose your own path through an experience that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost, and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced.
This first expansion takes place within the current Witcher world map, which features areas like No Man’s Land and Oxenfurt, while the next one is expected to have its own, separate map.
Hearts of Stone, the first of two paid expansions for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases Oct. 13 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
