Roku 4 revealed, cruises through FCC

When will Roku announce the Roku 4? That remains one of the final questions in our quest to learn more about the new streaming set-top box. The company recently teased 4K support, though the teaser seems to have been accidentally posted early and was quickly pulled. Now the set-top box has cruised through the FCC and an image of the photo was published by AFTVNews.

Dave Zatz from ZatznotFunny noticed the FCC filing, where he discovered the above sketch of the device. It doesn’t show much but, as Zatz notes, the reset button could give us an idea of how big the unit is, possibly hinting at a box that’s larger than earlier models. There doesn’t appear to be mention of 4K, though that’s not the sort of thing an FCC filing would reveal. It does, however, show 2.4GHz/5GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and other trimmings such as Bluetooth connectivity.

Additionally, AFTVNews published a press render of the box, which seems to confirm the “Roku 4” name and the larger size of the unit.

We still don’t know when it will be available or how much it will cost, but it seems that the Roku 4 launch is imminent.
