LG V10 first video teaser focuses on the second display

In case there was any doubt that LG would unveil the rumored V10 next week, the company released a pretty clear-cut teaser this week. The new video seems to confirm the phone’s secondary display, which sits just above the main screen next to the front-facing camera.

The teaser doesn’t show the screen in action, though based on earlier renders we’re expecting it to offer quick shortcuts to some of your most-used apps. It’s possible the ticker display could also serve up notifications without needing to switch on the rest of the device. Finally, the video seems to confirm that LG will include two cameras up front for some pretty advanced selfie photography.

We’re still not totally sold on the V10’s design, though we’re certainly intrigued. For now LG is focusing on how the device will stand out in a sea of monotonous slate smartphones. Hopefully the company will have a few more concrete reasons for making the device when it’s unveiled next week.

Beyond its second display, the LG V10 is expected to pack plenty of premium hardware. The new phone is rumored to come equipped with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a Snapdragon 808 processor, a 16-megapixel rear camera, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The company may even throw in a fingerprint reader for good measure.

LG is set to unveil the V10 at an event on October 1. We’ll be covering the event live from New York, so stay tuned for all our hands-on coverage and analysis next week.
