You’ve seen press renders of the Nexus 6P, now get a load of the Nexus 5X, the second device Google is expected to announce at its event next week. Ever since its demise earlier this year, people have been clamoring for a Nexus 5 followup, and based on these renders, it looks like everything we could have hoped for—and more.
The same basic Nexus 5 shape and size remains, though some obvious modifications have been made. The rear camera, for example, appears to protrude, and there’s a fingerprint sensor just underneath that. Meanwhile, on the front, there are two speaker grills, presumably for front-facing speakers.
According to previous rumors, the Nexus 5X is going to come equipped with a 5.2-inch Full HD screen, a Snapdragon 808 chip, USB-C, Android Marshmallow and 2GB of RAM. Compared to the Nexus 6P, the 5X will be inferior as far as specs are concerned, though given how much people loved the original Nexus 5, the device could wind up being the more popular between the two. At the very least, you can bet it will be a heck of a lot cheaper.
Unfortunately, the press render doesn’t include the lovely red color the original Nexus 5 came in. Instead, it looks like we’ll see black, white and mint. According to Android Police, the color will actually be more of a “light blue” in person.
We’ll learn much more at Google’s event next week.
