Meizu on Wednesday officially announced the Meizu PRO 5, a new smartphone that packs flagship specs and, perhaps a bit surprisingly, a processor from Samsung instead of Qualcomm, MediaTek or Intel.
The Meizu PRO 5 will ship with a Samsung Exynos 7420 chip, which was also featured in Samsung’s Galaxy S6. From our own experience with the S6, that means it’s no slouch of a smartphone. Other features depend on how you configure the phone, but on the high end you can expect 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Meizu will also offer a model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, however. The PRO 5 also sports a 5.7-inch 1080p screen, a fingerprint reader, 21-megapixel camera, support for two SIM cards and USB-C.
According to Android Central, pricing for the flagship model will come in closer to $485, while the 3GB version will ship for about $440. The phone is currently limited to China,.
