BlackBerry’s AtHoc acquisition is final

BlackBerry on Wednesday said that it has finalized its acquisition of AtHoc. The company originally announced its intentions to acquire AtHoc, a crisis communications firm, back in July.

BlackBerry said Wednesday that AtHoc will serve as a division inside of the company; the company’s current CEO Guy Miasnik will serve as head of that division and will report directly to BlackBerry CEO and chairman John Chen.

AtHoc provides emergency communications during crisis situations, supporting solutions such as emergency radios, IP phones, fire panels, sirens and more. Its customers include the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, and it says the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently tapped AtHoc for support in more than 200 U.S. airports.

Terms of the deal were not revealed.
