Apple emails iPhone 6s buyers who won’t get launch day delivery due to Pope’s visit

Apple has begun emailing iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus buyers whose delivery date will be affected by Pope Francis’ visit to the U.S. this week. Many customers in New York City and Philadelphia will now have to wait until Saturday for their new device.

As we reported on Monday, the Pope’s visit will affect deliveries to a whole host of ZIP codes throughout a number of Northeast cities. If you’re still unsure whether your iPhone 6s will be delivered on launch day this Friday, however, be on the lookout for an email from Apple.

The Cupertino company has begun notifying those who will be affected by the delay with an email that explains that “due to traffic restrictions expected for that day,” iPhone deliveries in these areas “may be delayed.”

Apple’s courier partners, FedEx and UPS, will attempt to deliver on this day — so you may be lucky enough to get your device in time — but those who aren’t will have their handset delivered on Saturday instead.

The Pope’s visit will affect all deliveries throughout New York City on Thursday and Friday, and Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday.
