Starbucks updated its iOS and Android apps on Tuesday with a new feature that should, theoretically, allow you to skip the long coffee shop lines. The new feature is called “Mobile Order & Pay” and it lets you place you order, and even pay for it, all before you show up at the actual Starbucks location.
When you open your application, you’ll be able to browse through a menu of food and drinks and pick which ones you’d like when you arrive. Starbucks will provide an estimate as to when it expects your order to be available, and then you can pre-pay for your latte, coffee, bagel or whatever you want. When you arrive at the store, simply head over to the pick-up area.
Starbucks said Mobile Order & Pay is now available at 7,400 participating locations nationwide after localized testing in select cities. The company plans to expand the option into Canada and the U.K. beginning next month.
