iPhone 6s in Rose Gold delivered early to one lucky customer

Apple’s next-generation iPhones aren’t official available until Friday, September 25, so pre-order deliveries won’t be made until that day. But one lucky customer has already received their iPhone 6s in Rose Gold — and put it through its paces in benchmark tests.

Despite not launching until Friday, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus pre-orders have already started shipping from Apple and its carrier partners in many launch markets. Those shipments should be held by couriers for now, but as is often the case, a small few slip through the net and are delivered early.

Adrienne Alpern, a visual designer from San Diego, California, learned this when her iPhone 6s pre-order showed up unexpectedly on Monday. The device was ordered from AT&T in the brand new Rose Gold color option.

After setting up the device, Alpern put it through some benchmark tests to find out exactly how much faster that new A9 processor is, and the device does not disappoint.

With a single-core score of 2413 in Geekbench, iPhone 6s grabs 800 more points than last year’s iPhone 6, and also beats the iPad Air 2 by more than 400 points. This makes the iPhone 6s the fastest iOS device available — at least until the iPad Pro arrives in November.

Alpern also did some tests with the iPhone 6s’ new 12-megapixel camera and provided MacRumors with the images, which you can see in the gallery below.

We’ll be on the lookout for more iPhone 6s handsets arriving early, and of course, if you get yours ahead of Friday’s release, we’d love to hear from you. But if you don’t get lucky, you can expect your iPhone pre-order to arrive on Friday.
