During the gameplay reveal trailer at E3 this past year, DICE showed off playable heroes and villains in Star Wars Battlefront.
We saw the battle of Hoth unfold as players took shots at one another with blasters and from aircraft. Then, late in the fight, we saw Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker on the battlefield. Heroes and villains will be playable.
A recent post on the game’s official site features details from Senior Producer Jamie Keen regarding the playable heroes and villains.
Keen started by talking a bit about Luke’s augmented jumping abilities.
“His jump is based on a normal biomechanical jump, but it’s augmented by the Force. You see this in the films as well, such as when he’s jumping out of the carbonite pit or when he’s training on Dagobah.”
You’ll find heroes and villains like Luke and Vader on the battlefield as pickup tokens. Once you grab the token, your health will constantly drop. The only way to gain more health and time as the powered up character is to kill enemies.
“Our goal was to give an average player around two minutes as a Hero or Villain…
…But if you’re good enough, you might stretch that to around five minutes. In theory, you could play as Luke Skywalker for a whole match, but that is extremely unlikely. That said, the gauntlet is thrown!”
Consider that challenge accepted.
Star Wars Battlefront releases for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms on Nov. 17, 2015. We’ll have more on the game as it comes.
