Google on Friday sent out press invites for an event being held on Sept. 29, teasing some “tasty treats.” That just so happens to be the day rumors claim Google will unveil new Nexus handsets. Oh, and there will probably be plenty of Chromecast news, too.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Google is probably going to unveil two Nexus devices at the end of this month: a Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. I know, the names aren’t ideal, but they do sound like top notch Android devices, meant to highlight what Android Marshmallow has to offer, including native fingerprint support and Now on Tap.
We’ve actually seen both devices on a number of occasions over the past few months, so it’s unlikely we’ll be incredibly surprised when they’re officially unveiled. But given how fond we are of the Nexus 5, we’re pretty darn excited to see what Google has up its sleeve. Here’s to hoping the price is nice and low, just like the original Nexus 5.
Additionally, Google is rumored to unveil the second generation Chromecast, along with something called Chromecast Audio, which will turn all your old speakers into a Wi-Fi-equipped army. Stay tuned; this is going to be fun.
