Avid Periscope users now have a place to call home. Introduced on Thursday, the live broadcasting app introduced Web profiles, not only giving users a new place to point fans, but it gives users an easier way to keep track of their favorite streamers. Now all you have to do is go to periscope.tv/brando to watch my live broadcasts. Not that I even use Periscope. But you get the idea.
“We think it’s really important for broadcasters to have a home on the Web, and today’s launch is just the beginning,” Periscope explained.
Following the rise of Meerkat, Periscope quickly become the go-to broadcasting app after it was snatched up by Twitter. And it’s gotten really good over the past several months. It’s not uncommon to see your favorite personality streaming from a big event, and streams are very consistent and high quality. Just last week, the app introduced the ability to broadcast in landscape, and there’s reportedly an Apple TV app on the way.
With 10 million users and growing, Periscope is a big platform that’s looking like it will be the future of in-the-moment news broadcasting.
