Marvel’s Jessica Jones gets first trailer, premiere date

A glass of whiskey, a camera, and a the familiar look of a detective agency front door. This is our first glimpse into the world of Jessica Jones, Marvel’s next project coming to Netflix on November 20. It’s hard to really get a feel for the show’s tone and style by this trailer alone—there are a lot of pretty water colors—but it looks like a psychedelic trip. Maybe this is simply the show’s opening credits.

As the proprietor of Alias Private Investigations, Jones is a former superhero who just can’t seem to escape her superhero life. In the comics, she gained her abilities (super strength and flight) after being exposed to radioactive chemicals, and found inspiration to use her powers for good after seeing Spider-Man fight. But she eventually decided to ditch that scene to live a more normal life.

Starring Krysten Ritter, Jessica Jones is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means the character will eventually wind up appearing in a Defenders crossover. So far we’ve been introduced to Daredevil, and we’re still going to see Iron Fist and Luke Cage; the latter character will actually appear in Jessica Jones.

The entirety of the show will hit Netflix on November 20, a Friday.
