HTC’s first Android Wear device finally in sight

HTC was the first company to make an Android phone, but the company is lagging far behind when it comes to Android Wear. Now a new report claims HTC could be hard at work on a smartwatch ahead of its rumored September event.

According to Phandroid, HTC’s first Android Wear device will feature a round display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels. There’s no word on an official name, but the device is being referred to internally as “halfbeak.” That’s it for now, but hopefully we’ll learn more soon.

HTC is allegedly planning a big event for September 29, at least according to a leaked Japanese teaser. We’re expecting the company to finally reveal its rumored Aero smartphone, too.

Of course this is just a rumor for now though, so we wouldn’t necessarily hold out for HTC’s first wearable. After all, Motorola’s upgraded Moto 360 is available for pre-order now, and so is the beautiful Huawei Watch. Still, die-hard HTC fans may want to wait a few more weeks just to see if HTC has anything new to announce.
