Sony to launch Xperia Z5 Compact Premium in Japan, report claims

Sony announced its new Xperia Z5 series at IFA in Berlin last week, and the Japanese company could have one more surprise up its sleeve for its home market. According to one report, Sony is planning a special edition Xperia Z5 Compact Premium for fans in Japan.

As its name suggests, the Xperia Z5 Compact Premium is expected to be an even more impressive version of the Xperia Z5 Compact.

Chinese website CnBeta, which published the promotional image above, promises it will have a 4.6-inch display with a sharper 1080p resolution, 4GB of RAM (twice the amount in the existing Xperia Z5 Compact), and a larger 2,900mAh battery (up from 2,700mAh).

The leaked promotional image also suggests the Xperia Z5 Compact Premium will be exclusive to Japanese carrier DoCoMo, with Hatsune Miku branding. Sony has launched other special edition products with Hatsune Miku branding in the past.

There’s no word on when the Xperia Z5 Compact Premium will be available, or whether it will come to other markets later on, like the Xperia Z4 did after it was renamed Xperia Z3+.
