Sony still hasn’t confirmed plans to launch the Xperia Z5, but with the company’s big IFA press conference just a day way it’s only a matter of time. Now we’re getting one last unofficial leak of the rumored smartphone along with its Compact sibling.
A pair of new benchmarks from GFXBench for two Sony phones may reveal their final hardware specifications. The Xperia Z5 (model number E6653) appears to pack a 5.1-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 810, 2.7GB of RAM and 23GB of storage (likely rounded up to 3GB and 32GB at launch). Meanwhile, the Z5 Compact (E5823) offers a smaller 4.5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 810 chip, 1.8GB of RAM and 23GB of storage (rounded up to 2Gb and 32GB).
Both new handsets are expected to feature a 23-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel shooter in front. Rumor has it Sony will also include a fingerprint reader built into the power button. We may also get a super-sized Xperia Z5 Premium with 5.5-inch 4K display, making it the sharpest smartphone screen around.
We’re expecting Sony to announce all three phones on Wednesday in Berlin, and we’ll be covering the event live. Of course, it’s possible the company could surprise us with something else entirely, but that seems pretty unlikely at this point.
