Volgarr the Viking coming to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, a test of Nintendo products’ durability

Have you played Volgarr the Viking yet? The indie action game launched last year to lots of praise on Steam and Xbox One for perfectly channeling the feeling of challenge of old-school arcade games, most specifically Taito’s classic Rastan. The game was already scheduled to come to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, and developer Kris Durrschmidt has confirmed the Nintendo versions by posting a picture of the Nintendo 3DS build running in his hands.

And it’s a good thing Nintendo products are so durable. Volgarr the Viking has already claimed the lives of countless innocent controllers, and it is bound to cause further havoc upon new audiences thanks to its sheer difficulty. Hopefully that reputation shines through for Nintendo here.

I played Volgarr the Viking when it first came out, but I found it hard to sit and play for extended amounts of time on a PC. I think the Nintendo 3DS or PS Vita version will be the best way for me to sink my teeth into it these days.

More on a specific release date when we know.
