Wow, so Tatooine is not the only desert planet in Star Wars after all! DICE and EA have just revealed new plans for Star Wars Battlefield in what is called The Battle of Jakku, one of the key turning points for the the New Republic during its continuing campaign against the Imperial forces.
This is the first event after the Battle of Endor to make its way into the Battlefront series. We’ve already seen the remnants of this battle in the preview for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with the Star Destroyers littering the desert sands, so DICE’s upcoming game will be a view into how those colossal ships got there in the first place.
DICE Concept Artist Anton Grandert explains his two artworks.
“There’s a David and Goliath theme to this. The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces. And true to the core gameplay of Star Wars Battlefront, the artwork features many different aspects of Star Wars battle fantasies – on land and in the sky.
We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction. Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-wings, all taking part of the fight.”
Star Wars Battlefront will launch on Nov. 17 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
