We’re not expecting a lot of high-end smartphones to debut next week at IFA, but Sony may be the exception. The company keeps teasing a new Xperia handset, which will apparently put a big focus on its camera.

Yesterday, Sony offered us a blurry look at the upcoming smartphone. Now the company is back with another image. This time the entire device has been cropped out, leaving an empty white rectangle for us to inspect for clues.
The focus here seems to be on the device’s front-facing camera, suggesting Sony will improve its selfie game with the next Xperia. That makes sense considering the last teaser was all about the primary camera, promising “greater focus.” Sony still hasn’t confirmed that the device we’re looking at is the Xperia Z5, but that seems like the most likely option. Then again, it’s possible the company could be planning more of a mid-range device with a focus on photography.
Based on a number of recent leaks we’re still expecting Sony to eventually refresh its flagship lineup with an Xperia Z5, a smaller Z5 Compact and a super-sized Z5 Ultra. All three devices should offer similar high-end hardware and a built-in fingerprint reader, though whether they arrive as soon as next week is still up for debate.
