Earlier this year Samsung impressed us with a futuristic Bluetooth speaker called the Wireless Audio Radiant 360 R7. Now the company is back with three more models offering a fresh design, new features and lower prices.
The R5, R3 and R1 feature a round tower design. It reminds us a bit of the Amazon Echo or Google’s new OnHub router, but Samsung’s speakers are really just speakers. They offer the same awesome omni-direction sound as the R7, but with a new control setup on top of the device that responds to taps and swipes
There’s also an updated Multiroom app for controlling the music. It works with Android, iOS and a few of Samsung’s smartwatches, including the Gear S and upcoming Gear S2. Using the app on your wrist you can control the volume, music playback and search for playlists, or just check to see what song is currently playing.
“With these additional models we are bringing a new kind of high quality sound to the market, with design that is simple, yet premium, and offers a more intuitive user interface,” said Samsung’s head of visual displays, Jurack Chae.
Samsung’s new models will launch in the U.S. and Europe later this year, with prices ranging from $199 to $399 depending on the model. They’ll also be on display at IFA next week, so hopefully we can get a closer look at the speakers then.
