Grandia II Anniversary Edition launch trailer and screenshots

Who would have ever guessed that I’d be writing about a launch trailer for Grandia II? The game was originally released for the Dreamcast way back in 2000 before making its way onto the PlayStation 2 in 2002. It wasn’t exactly a hit, but franchise owner GungHo Entertainment recently reached out to fans to see what old games they wanted to be given a second chance on the modern digital market.

And here we are in 2015 with the Grandia II Anniversary Edition launching on both Steam and GOG.com. You can pick it up now for $14.99, 25 percent off the normal $19.99 price tag.

This version comes with enhanced texture, lighting, both Japanese and English language tracks, and the ability to save 100 game files!

Take the role of a hardened mercenary with a heart, and go on an epic adventure filled with magic, new friendships, and surprising storyline twists in search of a weapon once wielded by a deity. It’s the classic tale of a band of adventurers destined to save the world, but things are not always as they seem…

Don’t be fooled! I’m not the biggest fan of Grandia II, and I voted for a re-release of the Lunar games instead. However, I fully admit to playing the PlayStation 2 version of the game, which is not as widely loved and kind of sacrilege among the fanbase. Maybe this new PC version is the best way to get reacquainted.

I hope its a success, because I want GungHo to keep putting out old Game Arts games and hopefully land the Lunar games on PSN.
