Apple Watch interest may not be as high as it was when the device first launched, but at Best Buy the wearable is still a big deal. The retail chain revealed on Tuesday that sales for the smartwatch have been great since arriving at its stores earlier this month.
The Apple Watch first launched back in April exclusively from Apple. Since then demand for the device appears to have tapered off a bit. However, the watch’s alleged popularity at Best Buy suggests there’s still plenty of interest out there.
“Demand for Apple Watch has been so strong in the stores and online,” Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly told investors during an earnings call this week. He also noted that the company plans to stock all of its 1,050 stores with the smartwatch by next month. That’s a big step up from the original plan of getting the device into just 300 stores in time for the holidays.
Best Buy also has bigger plans for increasing its connection to Apple moving forward. That includes placing additional display tables for showing off the Cupertino company’s devices. The retail giant will even offer AppleCare later this year in time for the next crop of iPhones believed to be launching in September.
