Bethesda clearly has a lot of faith in the potential success of the upcoming Fallout 4. They think it can be their biggest release ever.
Fallout 4 will have to top The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, of course. That’s no small feat. Skyrim boasts more than 20 million copies sold.
Bethesda’s Pete Hines spoke with MCV about this potential success.
“I think this can top Skyrim. It could be our biggest release ever. But we will see. It is part of my job to build the megaphone that we hold up to the game, and the game decides how loud it goes. Just how big it is going to be is hard to say. Skyrim was a massively big deal.”
Is Fallout 4 that huge of a game? I really don’t know. It’s hard to see the potential magnitude games like this one when we’re so up close. It’ll do pretty well, that much I can almost guarantee.
MCV also asked Hines an interesting question regarding Fallout Shelter, the mobile free-to-play shelter building and management game the studio released during E3 this year. Some are suggesting that Fallout Shelter will be more lucrative than Fallout 4.
“No way, not even close,” is what Hines had to say about that.
Fallout 4 will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms on November 10, 2015.
