We’re in bizarro gaming world, where an upcoming game is up for pre-load on consoles but not on PC. That game is, of course, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, because it seems to have a flair for the dramatic like no other.
Metal Gear Solid V will be ready to download on September 1 when the game goes live on Steam, but will not be available to download before. It will, however, be available for pre-load on consoles.
This was confirmed by the game’s community manager, Robert Allen Peeler, on Twitter.
While this is confusing and probably irritating for PC gamers, what will likely be Snake’s final outing did recently see its PC release date moved forward quite a bit, so this is still much earlier than it would’ve been available otherwise.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain hits PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Sept. 1.
