Star Wars Battlefront’s Supremacy mode detailed

A new mode in Star Wars Battlefront was revealed this week: Supremacy.

Supremacy, EA says, is about controlling five points scattered across a map, with the objective being to control all five by the end of each 10 minute round.

This looks to be one of Battlefront’s more exciting modes. The hero and villain characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will be present in this mode, along with most of the vehicles available in the game.

The team acknowledges that this mode is pretty similar to Battlefield’s Conquest mode, but says they’ve made some tweaks to improve on the idea.

“You’ll always spawn close to the action when you enter Supremacy, so you’ll never feel isolated from the fight,” said Lead Level Designer Dennis Brännvall in an official statement. “By focusing on one key point at a time, players not playing the objective and camping on a hill somewhere will be a rare sight.”

Any player of big multiplayer games like Battlefront and Battlefield knows that players not playing objectives is a very real problem in modes like this. Keeping players focused without railroading them is a real challenge, as it seems like some prefer to actively resist the objectives for some unknown reason. If Supremacy can keep those players interested, it could make for a fast and exciting mode.
