Google teases Android M name reveal in new video

It’s been quite a while since Google first revealed Android M, and we still don’t know the software’s final name. Well, good news: Google on Friday released a video teasing the name’s unveiling, using a cute little tune to hype up the announcement. Marshmallow? Muffin? Marzipan?

Google hasn’t really given any indication as to what the name could be, so your guess is as good as ours. At the end of the new video, we can see someone preparing an Android figurine; the base coat appears to be white, so are we going to see Marshmallow? That might be a stretch.

The popular choice has been Milkshake, though there are a number of possibilities, so it’s difficult to narrow it down to just one. The search giant doesn’t say when it’ll actually confirm the name, but seeing as a video about it has been released, we can expect something very soon.

A new version of Android is typically unleashed upon the world in October, so we could still be a few months away from seeing the final version. We have, however, already had the chance to play around with early versions of the software, giving us a small taste of what to expect.

This year’s update is all about the smaller things, enhancing the software and giving users even more control over the experience. Probably the biggest addition is Now on Tap, which we have yet to see in the early Android M builds.

Any guesses as to what the name is? Hopefully we’ll find out soon.
