I don’t know if I’ve ever been more excited than I have to buy a thing rather than get it for free than I am right now. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 has been ported to iOS. It’s being sold for $4.99.
The big news? It has no in-app purchases. No microtransactions. No fake currency. No “share with your family to build this thing faster.” Nothing. Just, like, a game, and the ability to play the game, no questions asked.
It’s absolutely insane that stuff like this excites me, but here we are in 2015. Great. Here’s the blurb from the press release.
Considered by critics to be the all-time genre-leading coaster park simulation game, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is a bestselling PC classic, now available for iPhone and iPad as it was always intended without in-app purchases or free to play functions.
Frontier Developments is responsible for the mobile version of this theme park building title.
The bad news? The announcement makes no mention of an Android version of the game. Bummer for me, too, friends. I reached out to Frontier and asked if one is being considered, so I’ll update this story with their response.
What do you think of the news that we now have a completely microtransaction-less version of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 on iOS? I’m pretty stoked for it.
