A few weeks back, EA Sports debuted the cover for NHL 16. For the first time in the franchise, two athletes would be on the box, holding the Cup. Those athletes were Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, Captain and star winger for the Chicago Blackhawks.

EA Sports announced that Patrick Kane has been removed from the cover.

Kane is currently under investigation for sexual assault near his hometown of Buffalo, New York. He’s not been charged yet, but EA is certainly trying to distance itself from the problem at hand.

Kane’s potential offense is the talk of the hockey world right now. Kane does have a history of previous altercations, including an assault on a taxi driver in Buffalo. What’s to come of his career after this major allegation remains to be seen.

For now, Toews remains on the box of NHL 16, hoisting the Cup alone.
