Sony’s raising the price of PS Plus’ monthly subscriptions in the UK

The PlayStation Plus price for both one month and three month subscriptions is going up in the UK. If you buy for the short term, now might be the time to re-up.

As of right now, one month of PS Plus is in the UK is £5.49 ($8.57). Three months of Plus is £11.99 ($18.71). In September, both of those rates will increase, though we don’t know how much they’ll go up by.

This was all confirmed with Gamespot by Sony officially. They even received a statement.

“We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content.

From September 1, 2015 we will be increasing the price of monthly and three-month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in line with market conditions.

We will continue to invest in PS Plus to ensure an unparalleled experience, featuring the best quality games and features.”

As for the annual subscription rates, those are staying the same. That currently runs for £39.99 ($62.40) in the UK.

It’s great that the annual plans are staying the same, of course. I’d assume that’s the way a lot of people subscribe. It’s the cheapest in the long run, and the nature of PS Plus now is that you should keep it for multiplayer titles.

The thing that’s slightly alarming is that this price hike could lead to others on a global scale. If that happens, would you give up PlayStation Plus?
