Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5’s new graphical look shown off in gameplay footage

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 received a graphical overhaul last week. The game is now more cel-shaded than before, and this comes less than two months before its release date.

Last week, we had a pile of screenshots featuring the new graphical look in paused action. Now, out of gamescom 2015, we have some actual gameplay footage featuring Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 and its new look.

The footage, which you’ll find in the video above, comes from an IGN Live show during the convention. Gameplay is mixed into an interview with Dino Verano, Producer at Activision.

Verano actually indicates that this art style change has been planned for a while, quickly stating this:

“We didn’t actually just change it. It’s the sum of a bunch of progressions…we’ve had kind of a vision, even from the very beginning, to come up with this brighter and more focused art style that kind of accentuates and goes with the fast, fun, frenetic, arcadey gameplay of Tony Hawk’s Pro Sakter.

What do you think of the art change? Personally, I think it looks much, much better than it did before.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is set to release for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Sept. 29, 2015.
