Huawei is holding a press conference on September 2 during the IFA trade show in Berlin, which kicks off early next month, and we’re expecting the firm to introduce at least one new smartphone. Some reports have suggested several phones are in the works, however, including a possible Huawei Mate 7 mini, the Huawei Mate 7 Plus and the Huawei Mate 8. A new image leaked this week shows a render of one device, perhaps one of the aforementioned products, or something else entirely.
The first picture you see in the gallery above is a picture published by GizChina that shows bezel-less edges and what appears to be a slight curve at the sides of a screen, similar to what Samsung did with the Galaxy S6 Edge and the rumored Galaxy S6 Edge+. The curve doesn’t look as drastic as Samsung’s implementation, however. You can also see what appears to be a SIM card or microSD slot at the top in addition to a 3.5mm headphone jack, and metal edges. But hold on a second.
Here’s where things get fishy: PhoneArena makes a good point that, perhaps, we’re looking at a black/white back side of the phone instead of the front. If that’s the case, we’re not looking at a curved display at all but rather just the back of the phone, leaving the possibility that the front of the device is still flat.
Is this the Mate 7 Plus? Something else entirely? We should know early next month.
