Star Wars The Force Awakens TV spots begin hitting the world

Although Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn’t begin hitting theaters until mid-december, it seems the marketing campaign is already taking off in some international markets.

On Sunday the official Star Wars Korea YouTube channel published what appears to be the first TV commercial for the upcoming seventh film in the series. Although the 30-second spot primarily features footage seen in the previous two trailers, it does provide us immediately with a new angle on a scene we were aware of.

When we’ve seen the gathering of the First Order troops it has always been from down amongst the troops, but now we see an angle from the platform that gives you an idea of just how many troops are assembled. While the distance makes it hard to tell, you can definitely see new Stormtroopers, some Stormtrooper commanders (designated by their orange pauldrons), and some type of new black uniformed troopers we have yet to see, but they appear to be a mix of commanders and possibly pilots.

Vehicle wise you can see many of the new white-winged TIE Fighters, and some sort of troop transports in the back left area.

… not that I magnified the image and studied it or anything.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters in the U.S. on Dec. 18.
