I sure hope Microsoft is putting one and one together when it comes to the Rare Replay compilation that released last week.
The Xbox One exclusive collection of 30 classic Rare games spanning the company’s history for only $30 cracked the U.K. software sales charts in a huge way. It entered at the #1 position, and it’s the first Xbox One exclusive to do so. Yep, that means it beat out the likes of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, each of the Xbox One’s Forza games and a few more banner exclusives.
Please, Microsoft, let Rare be Rare. The company has a storied and wonderful history, and games in the collection like Jet Force Gemini and Banjo-Kazooie prove that this studio knows how to build wonderful experiences. Let the Kinect game development fall to another studio, and let Rare get back to making Rare games.
Do you know what I’d do for a new and proper Banjo-Kazooie game? It’s practically unthinkable.
