We’re not expecting much from Apple when it comes to the iPad mini 4. Some upgraded specs in the same old shell would probably be enough, but a new leak suggests the company could actually make a pretty big change to the tablet’s design too.
A leaked render of the iPad mini 4 appears in a new video from @onleaks, who has a pretty good track record of revealing accurate information. The video offers up dimensions for the device, suggesting it could be just 6.1mm thin (down from 7.5mm on last year’s model). That’s just as thin as the iPad Air 2, and even thinner than the current generation of iPhones. The new iPad mini is also expected to pack similar specs to the iPad Air 2, including an 8-megapixel camera in the rear and an anti-reflective coating.
Apple could reveal a new iPad Air 3 later this year at the same time, though the only major change might be a new A9 chip. The company is also rumored to be prepping a 12.9-inch iPad Pro that could ship with a specially designed stylus.
Apple is expected to unveil its entire new tablet family possibly as early as next month. A rumor recently suggested that it will unveil them during the same September 9 event when it also plans to introduce the new iPhones and a redesigned Apple TV.
