This is the device that more or less started the current curved trend. Seeing it now, it still holds up quite well, and feels pretty good in the hand. Even though we’ve become used to a more dramatic design, this one is cool because it’s halfway between old and new. It’s like if you cut two smartphones down the middle and put them together.
Of course, the company has moved on from this device in that it’s no longer a concept. Starting this year, it decided to go full bore down a path toward a new frontier, while continuing to keep functionality and design in mind. This was just the spark that started the whole forest fire. I kind of miss it in a way. How it slopes down. It wasn’t perfect, but it was still pretty darn cool.
The pictures below will be pretty revealing if you’ve ever held this device in your hand. I also thought the timing was pertinent because of what’s taking place next week. Shoot, am I giving too much away? That’s OK. These posts have become less about guessing, and more about admiring the design of the device on display.
That textured back, subtle curves, manageable size and durability.
